HIGH POINT, N.C., April 27, 2012 – The Greek community at High Point University recently raised more than $2,000 for the Greek Order of Omega Scholarship Fund by showcasing some of its most talented fraternity and sorority members in the second annual Greeks Got Talent event.
The talent competition featured a variety of performances including singing, dancing and original musical acts. Proceeds from the event will be used to assist Greek students with attending leadership development programs and other initiatives to strengthen the Greek community.
“Greeks Got Talent was a huge success,” says Teri Cugliari, director of Greek Life at HPU. “It is so much fun to watch the organizations participate, and also to watch how the crowd supports each act. I’m proud of the event both as a successful fundraiser and as an opportunity for our groups to come together for a fun event.”
The first-place winner of the competition was “The Betztables,” a band representing the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Other winners of the competition were Phi Mu sorority member Emily Greshes in second place for her jump-rope routine, and “The Kappa Delta Girl Power” dance in third place, representing the Kappa Delta sorority.
The Order of Omega is a leadership honor society for members of Greek organizations. It recognizes juniors and seniors who have exemplified high standards in the areas of scholarship, leadership, involvement within their respective organization and within the Greek community, campus and local community.
