HIGH POINT, N.C., May 3, 2012 – The Evening Degree Program at High Point University recently honored its outstanding students by inducting 11 new members to the Alpha Sigma Lambda National Honor Society.
Students inducted in the honor society included Brian Baird, Deborah Blackburn, William Buck, Amber Davis, Amanda Durrett, Bryan Hajtovik, Rachel Jones, Annette Knight, Quinita Little, Zahiya Rimawi and Joseph Vestal.
The EDP established the chapter in 1992 to recognize the high scholastic achievement by adult students. To be considered for the honor society, a student must have a GPA of 3.2 or higher, have completed at least 30 semester hours at HPU – 15 of which must be outside a student’s major. The average GPA of the newest members was much higher than the requirement, however – 3.85.
“Our new inductees have worked extremely hard to have the qualifications to be inducted into Alpha Sigma Lambda,” says Tracy Collum, Associate Dean of the Evening Degree Program and Norcross Graduate School. “They juggle school, work and families, and still manage to come out on top of their academic achievements. We are proud to induct them into our chapter.”
