HIGH POINT, N.C., July 10, 2012 – Melia Sigmon, a rising sophomore at High Point University, is designing a summer of success as a media intern for Chili Technology this summer.
At the internship, Sigmon is responsible for running the company’s social media accounts, working with the marketing and packaging teams, shooting video and photographs for the company and assisting in commercial production.
Sigmon, who is majoring in communication with a concentration in electronic media as well as business administration, hopes that interning at a company that does most of its own public relations work will allow her to get a glimpse at all the different levels it takes to run business. Working with Adobe Photoshop, Facebook and Twitter also gets Sigmon experience in the fields of post-production and social media – a field she plans to work in someday.
“Skills I acquired from HPU range from media technology knowledge in a mediated communications class to communication skills in a human communication class to a sense of professionalism that the university’s Office of Career and Internship Services helped me build,” said Sigmon.
