Student Gets Hands-on Animal Experience with Pre-Vet Internship

HIGH POINT, N.C., July 23, 2012 – Alexandra Bell, a rising junior at High Point University, is spending the summer gaining hands-on experience as a pre-veterinary intern at Green Forks Animal Hospital in Greens Fork, Ind.

As part of her internship, Bell, who is majoring in biology, is responsible for feeding animals, assisting with medications, performing clinical exams and maintain the overall health of the animals.

“My experience here has greatly impacted my career goals,” says Bell. “I know more than ever where my passion lies, and I believe the more I continue with this internship, the stronger my passion for veterinary medicine will grow.”

Bell says that her coursework and lab experience at HPU has provided her with the skill set needed to perform her clinical duties at the hospital, and hopes to use this experience to further pursue her goal of earning a veterinary degree and working with exotic animals.
