Faculty Member Receives Physical Therapy Designation

HIGH POINT, N.C., Aug. 13, 2012 – Dr. Jeffrey Taylor, assistant professor and director of clinical education for the Department of Physical Therapy, has received the designation as a Board-Certified Clinical Specialist in Sports Physical Therapy from the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties.

The ABPTS states that the specialist certification program was established to provide formal recognition for physical therapists with advanced clinical knowledge, experience and skills in a special area of practice, and to assist consumers and the health care community in identifying these physical therapists.

Taylor, who joined the HPU faculty in January, 2012, currently holds the status as a Board-Certified Orthopeadic Clinical Specialist. His new designation will only compliment that status.

“The SCS designation’s recognition of advanced clinical knowledge, experience and skill in Sports Physical Therapy will meld nicely with the scope of the School of Health Sciences. I hope to utilize that skill set as we prepare and train future practitioners in the field of Sports Medicine,” said Taylor.
