HIGH POINT, N.C., July 31, 2012 – Christiana Brock, a rising senior majoring in exercise science at High Point University, is working out a summer of success as a pre-physical therapy intern at the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Pediatric Hospital.
At the internship, Brock’s responsibilities include interacting with patients, working alongside physical therapists and managing equipment at the facility.
Thanks to her extensive coursework at HPU, Brock has been able to make a smooth transition into the professional side of training and communicating effectively with health professionals.
“Without my coursework at HPU, I would not have had the scientific foundation that I need in order to understand patient care at the clinics,” said Brock. “The knowledge that I gained through classes like human anatomy and physiology, biomechanics and exercise physiology has been immensely helpful.”
Brock hopes that her rigorous class schedule and internship observation hours will allow her to submit a strong application to a highly competitive physical therapy school.
