HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 8, 2013 – Dr. Tjai Nielsen, Associate Professor of Management in HPU’s Phillips School of Business, received a “Top Ten Paper” award by the Social Science Research Network (SSRN).
Nielsen’s article, “Organizational Citizenship Behavior and Performance: A Meta-Analysis of Group-Level Research,” examined the results of multiple research studies and found that having employees go above and beyond the call of duty (i.e., organizational citizenship behavior) for their teams has a significant and positive impact on the overall performance of the team.
The article received the award by being one of the most downloaded articles in its category over a specified period of time.
“It’s an honor to receive this award because it is a direct representation of interest and a good indication of scholarly impact,” says Nielsen. “While this paper was published in a ranked journal with a solid impact factor and has a relatively high citation count for its age, the number of times people go to the trouble to actually download it is in some ways more meaningful because it is a more direct representation of its relative utility. I look forward to integrating this research into the classroom to further student learning.”
SSRN is the largest repository of working papers and published research in the world. This is the fifth time Nielsen has received a Top Ten award from the network.
