Class of 2014 Outcomes: Thomas Langford Engineers A Career in Technology


With a successful 2014 Commencement Ceremony behind us, recent High Point University graduates are preparing to commence prestigious career paths around the world at Fortune 500 companies, international service programs, public school systems, top-tier law, medical and graduate school programs, and many other esteemed organizations thanks to their journey at HPU. Here’s a glimpse of one extraordinary graduate from the Class of 2014:

Name: Thomas Langford

Major: Langford graduated with a B.S. in Computer Science on May 3, with a minor in Mathematics.

Post-graduation plans: Langford accepted a position at Gilbarco Veeder-Root in Greensboro as a Software Engineer. Gilbarco Veeder-Root provides technology solutions for companies in the retail petroleum industry and is the global leader in fuel dispenser technology and integrated fueling solutions, from the forecourt to the c-store.

Langford also received a competitive job offer from the prestigious Lockheed Martin Corporation.

How HPU helped you get there: “HPU helped me attain my goal of becoming a software engineer by providing an environment in which I was able to learn in and out of the classroom through various projects and extracurricular research. My professors provided expert knowledge and support helping me to present at many conferences and publish a paper at an international conference.”

Most impactful professor at HPU: “Mr. Roger Shore truly cares about his students and is always willing to help students with additional projects and research. He creates a nurturing environment for students to learn and is a contributing factor to an exemplary Computer Science program.”

Most impactful moment at HPU: “The most impactful experience at HPU for me was being able to create iPad apps for the Economics department on a team of computer science students. This provided excellent experience and helped me secure a full time position as a software engineer.”
