HIGH POINT, N.C., Aug. 8, 2014 – Rising High Point University senior Summer Tonsfeldt is working in her chosen field of public relations through a summer internship with Zeno Group in California.
At Zeno, Tonsfeldt, a strategic communication major, creates media lists, formats coverage for product releases and edits presentation decks for new businesses.
“Zeno treats their interns with the same kind of work and expectations as their employees,” says Tonsfeldt. “Everything from building media lists to being an active member during brainstorming sessions is what PR professionals do on a day-to-day basis.”
Tonsfeldt says one HPU professor in particular prepared her for success.
“The support and instruction from Prof. Phil Watson and his Case Studies in Strategic Communications class helped me conjure up innovative ideas when brainstorming on new client campaigns at work,” says Tonsfeldt. “He also provided me with motivation and tips for my resume. It was evident that he not only cared about me as a student in a classroom situation, but also as an individual looking to blossom in the professional world of PR.”
Zeno was named PRWeek’s Mid-size Agency of the Year in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and The Holmes Report’s 2013 Consumer Agency of the Year. They represent a diverse roster of clients, from start-up companies to global brands, and are part of the Daniel J. Edelman family of companies.
