Vigueira Joins HPU Biology Department

HIGH POINT, N.C., Aug. 29, 2014 – High Point University recently hired Dr. Cynthia Vigueira as an assistant professor of biology.

Vigueira will teach genetics and other biology courses while also mentoring students in research projects.

“My hope is to guide students in developing their long term goals as well as mentor them in the short-term of their everyday lives,” says Vigueira. “I am very excited to work on incorporating service learning into my courses, allowing HPU students to directly impact their community.”

Vigueira is one of 21 new faculty positions being added by HPU this year.

Vigueira is originally from St. Louis, and received her doctorate in genetics from Clemson University where she also received the university’s first-ever outstanding graduate award.
