Fields Joins HPU as Learning Excellence Specialist

HIGH POINT, N.C., Sept. 9, 2014 – High Point University recently welcomed Lauren Fields to its staff as a learning excellence specialist.

Fields, a Trinity native, comes to HPU with seven years of teaching experience. In her new position she supports students in academic and life skills. She also will teach the Foundations of Academic Success course to students, which focuses on exam preparation, testing strategies, test anxiety, reading and note taking skills, time and stress management skills, as well as many other skills students need to succeed.

Her primary goal will be to help students have a successful semester by mentoring them and offering academic and life-skill support.

“I am excited about this new opportunity in my career to work with an exceptional staff and ensure academic success for all students at HPU,” Fields says.

Fields is a National Board Certified elementary and middle grades educator who taught in Randolph County Schools prior to coming to HPU. She is also an active participant in children’s ministry through her church and does volunteer work for The Big Give Community Campaign for needy families and Communities in Schools. She received a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a master’s in elementary education from Elon University. She also has a K-6 teaching license from Elizabeth City State University.
