Fraternity Receives National Award for Chapter Excellence

HIGH POINT, N.C., Sept. 9, 2014 – High Point University’s Kappa Sigma chapter recently received the Founders Award for Chapter Excellence, the highest possible award for chapters from Kappa Sigma Fraternity.

The award recognizes the fraternity as one of the top chapters in the United States. With 56 members, HPU’s Rho-Eta chapter is one of the smallest chapters to have ever won the award.

To qualify, fraternities must portray extraordinary leadership, scholarship and service efforts on their campuses and in their local communities.

“It’s a tremendous accomplishment to have been selected for the FACE award,” says HPU senior John Marsicano, president of Kappa Sigma. “We work hard week in and week out to make a difference on campus and in the community, and it’s incredibly humbling to be recognized for those efforts. We couldn’t have done it without the constant support and encouragement from the Office of Greek Life and the entire HPU family.”

Kappa Sigma also recently received the Silver Bowl for Academic Excellence at the fraternity’s national Leadership Conference in New Orleans. During the 2013-14 school year, Kappa Sigma earned HPU’s “Fraternity of the Year” and “Highest GPA” awards.
