HPU’s largest cohort of 1,470 new students represents a wide variety of academic achievement, service, backgrounds, cultures and geographic locations. Below is a snapshot of a student whose learning experiences at HPU will position him to meet his career aspirations in the broadcast and journalism fields.
Name: Zachary Tucker
High school attended: Salisbury High School in Salisbury, N.C.
Accomplishments: Tucker has completed two internships with the Salisbury Post and WSAT Memories 1280, both in Salisbury, N.C. In addition to achieving academic excellence with the National Honor Society and his high school’s honor roll, Tucker is also an Eagle Scout, a four-year band member, three-year tennis player and two-year drum major. He has received a Community Service Award for three years in a row and is actively involved in his home church, serving on four different mission trips. Tucker has also extensively broadened his world perspective during his travels to dozens of countries throughout Europe, Asia, North America and South America.
