Hensley Joins Theatre Department

HIGH POINT, N.C., Sept. 29, 2014 – Gay Hensley joined the faculty at High Point University as an instructor of costuming in the Department of Theatre.

In her new role, she teaches classes related to theatrical costuming and makeup. She also is responsible for designing the costumes for all productions by the theatre department.

“I look forward to providing our students with the necessary skills to obtain a career in either costume design or technology,” she says.

Before coming to HPU, Hensley taught costume technology classes as an adjunct with the Department of Theatre at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for the past 20 years. She has also maintained her own business for more than 25 years in freelance costume design and construction.

A Mount Airy native, Hensley became active in theatre in high school. She earned both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Fine Arts at UNCG.
