HPU Welcomes Davidshofer as Philosophy Instructor

HIGH POINT, N.C., Oct. 3, 2014 – Claudine Davidshofer joined the faculty of High Point University as an instructor of philosophy.

In her new position, Davidshofer teaches courses for the philosophy and religion department, such as Sacred Experiences in World Religions, Business Ethics and Contemporary Continental Philosophy.

Her expertise includes 19th century philosophy, metaphysics, the history of philosophy, ethics and East Asian philosophy.

“I hope to show students that the study of philosophy is for everyone – for the philosophy major and non-major alike,” Davidshofer says. “It is not about abstract, difficult ways of thinking; it is a way of examining what is important in life and how to live a good and meaningful life.”

Originally from Presque Isle, Maine, Davidshofer holds a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy and French from Colby College. She earned her Master of Arts in philosophy and a Ph.D. in philosophy from Emory University.
