HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 24, 2014 – High Point University’s Wind and Brass Ensembles will present holiday favorites in an upcoming Winter Band Concert. The concert will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 8 in the Pauline Theatre of the Hayworth Fine Arts Center. It is free and open to the public; tickets are not required.
The concert will include performances of Alfred Reed’s “Greensleeves,” Leroy Anderson’s “A Christmas Festival,” José Feliciano’s “Feliz Navidad” and more.
Comprised of students from across campus, the HPU Wind Ensemble performs a wide variety of music at multiple concerts throughout the year. Joining the Wind Ensemble in the concert will be the HPU Brass Ensemble.
“We are very excited about this year’s winter concert,” says Dr. Danny Frye, director of instrumental studies at HPU. “We have the largest band in approximately 50 years, filled with the finest young people anywhere, coming together to make beautiful music and share it with the HPU and High Point communities. I hope folks can come celebrate the holidays with us.”
Visitors are encouraged to enter campus through the welcome center at the intersection of Montlieu Avenue and Centennial Street. Public parking and shuttles will be available in the lot behind the Hayworth Fine Arts Center.
