HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 19, 2014 – High Point University will begin the holiday season by hosting its 44th Annual Community Prayer Breakfast featuring the Rev. Dr. Richard Gibbons. The event will be held at 7:30 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 5 in the Millis Athletic and Convocation Center. It is open to the public.
Gibbons began his ministry as the 10th senior pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Greenville, South Carolina on Sept. 1, 2007. He is a native of Scotland and served The Church of Scotland as a regional development officer from August 1997 to August 2007. He holds joint honors in Ecclesiastical History and Systematic Theology from the University of Glasgow and a Doctor of Ministry from Highland Theological College. Gibbons currently serves as co-chair to the ECO’s Theological Task Force.
The annual event includes special music provided by the HPU Chapel Choir, directed by Dr. Liz Doeble, as well as a silent prayer held in memory of alumni, members of the university family, the community and other friends who have passed away during the past year.
Parking and shuttle buses will be available from Vert Stadium on Panther Drive beginning at 6:45 a.m. Please enter campus at Lexington Avenue and Panther Drive. Handicap parking with a handicap placard will be available in front of the Millis Athletic and Convocation Center.
