HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 12, 2014 – The Department of Academic Development at High Point University recently hired Kim Pope as a learning excellence specialist.
In her position, Pope teaches Foundations for Academic Success while also serving as a mentor for students to help them successfully navigate their college experience. She draws on her extensive experience working with students with learning differences and looks forward to helping students realize their potential as both learners and contributing members of their community.
“My hope is that I will positively impact the students at HPU by helping them discover who they are as a learner and teaching them how to use their strengths to achieve their own personal success,” says Pope.
Pope has always been passionate about working with students of all ages. A longtime resident of North Carolina, she has been active with her local Boys and Girls Club, creating and implementing the Carry the Love project, which filled purses and backpacks with school supplies and goodies for local children. She also has been published in both educational journals and textbooks.
Pope earned a Bachelor of Science in speech pathology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and a Master of Education from Elon University.
