HPU Invites Community to Annual Spring Dance Concert

HIGH POINT, N.C., Feb. 10, 2015 – High Point University’s growing dance minor program will share and showcase the talents of students at the fourth annual Spring Dance Concert. The event will be held at 7:30 p.m. Feb 26-28 in the Pauline Theatre of the Hayworth Fine Arts Center. It is free and open to the public; tickets are not required.

The concert will include six unique works choreographed by Lindsey Howie, HPU instructor of dance; adjunct professor Kristen Lucas; student choreographers Madison Bryan and Danielle Criss; and guest artist Shannon Bramham of Koresh Dance Company. Each piece, which will vary in style and theme, will be performed by HPU students.

For the first time in HPU dance history, a tap routine will be included in the concert.

“I am so proud of what our students have to share with the community,” says Howie. “Our dance minor program is growing and evolving and I believe guests will see evidence of this in the concert.”

Additionally, through a grant from the HPU Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Works, three of the works in the Spring Dance Concert will represent HPU at the American College Dance Festival conference in March. Students will perform Bramham’s work titled “Damages,” and Criss’ work, “you are me, and we are you.” Bryan will also present her dance work “Transforming Self” in an informal concert.
