HIGH POINT, N.C., Feb. 3, 2015 – Two High Point University professors will share their musical talents on the flute and piano during a Chamber Music Series concert at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 19 in the Hayworth Chapel. The event is open to the public; no tickets are required.
Dr. Robert Hallquist, associate professor of music (applied piano), and Dr. Laura Stevens, instructor of music (applied flute), will present an evening of works by Austrian and German composers. This recital will be an extremely rare opportunity for listeners to hear live performances of the solo piano sonata of Alban Berg (1885-1935), an unaccompanied flute sonata of C.P.E. Bach (1714-1788), and the sonata for violin and piano (transcribed for flute and piano) of Richard Strauss (1864-1949).
Visitors are encouraged to enter campus through the welcome center at the intersection of North College Drive and Montlieu Avenue. Parking will be available for community members behind Hayworth Fine Arts Center.
