Kappa Delta Sorority and Family Service to Host ‘Super Hero Dash’

HIGH POINT, N.C., DATE, 2015 – High Point University’s Kappa Delta sorority and the Guild of Family Service of High Point will co-host the second Super Hero Dash that will be held at 2:30 p.m. on March 22 at the HPU Greek Village.

The Super Hero Dash is a race that aims to increase awareness of Family Service of the Piedmont, a nonprofit organization that empowers individuals and families in crisis to restore hope, achieve stability and thrive through quality support services, advocacy and education. Their hope is to bring the community together to fight against child abuse. The race will be a 5k run for adults and a 1k run for children 10 and under.

Participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite superhero. Registration is $25 for adults and $12 for kids 10 and under. Each runner will receive a Super Hero Dash T-shirt, and children under 10 will receive a super hero cape. There will also be all-you-can-eat super hero sundaes, kids’ activities and a silent auction. Those interested in supporting the event but unable to attend are invited to sign up as a “virtual runner” and will be mailed a T-shirt/kid’s cape. You can register online here.

“I love that we get to partner with the university and the entire High Point community to give back directly to those in need in our area,” says Anne Davey, Kappa Delta president. “This year we hope to raise $20,000 to support Family Service of the Piedmont and their efforts here in the Triad. We are so excited to give back nationally and locally in a fun way that gets everyone involved.”

Funds raised at the event will support agency programs that serve child victims of abuse, including domestic violence shelters, children’s advocacy centers, individual and family counseling and in-home therapy.

“We are excited to join the Kappa Deltas at HPU in the fight against child abuse,” says Mary Keever, member at Guild of Family Service and chair for the event. “Together, we are hoping to raise awareness and funds to empower victims of child abuse. We are looking forward to a fun, healthy event that will bring our community together.”
