Cartwright Joins HPU as Clinical Counselor

HIGH POINT, N.C., April 20, 2015 – High Point University’s Office of Student Life recently hired Stephanie Cartwright as clinical counselor.

As a licensed professional and nationally certified counselor, Cartwright helps assist students in dealing with a broad range of issues, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, loss and stress management.

With a background in mental health, Cartwright has previously worked with both adolescents and young adults in school systems and residential centers. She has also worked closely with children who have been diagnosed with autism. In her new position at HPU, Cartwright hopes to continue to help in the positive development of the counseling services department and assist students at any point in time that they may need to talk to someone or seek help.

“I am impressed not only by the faculty and staff that have developed the programs here at HPU, but I am also most impressed by the students that attend this university,” says Cartwright. “I am surprised and enlightened daily, and I could not be happier to have been given this opportunity to join such a wonderful group of people here on this beautiful campus.”

Cartwright graduated from Emory & Henry College with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology in 2009. She received her master’s degree in community counseling from East Tennessee State University in 2011.
