Graduate Students Showcase Communication Research at Poster Symposium

HIGH POINT, N.C., April 27, 2015 – High Point University communication graduate students gathered in the Nido R. Qubein School of Communication on April 8 to display their capstone projects during the school’s third annual Graduate Research Poster Symposium.

Nine students who will be graduating in May presented posters about their research projects for their professors and classmates.

“I was very impressed with the quality of the research presented at the symposium,” said Jeff Adams, vice president for research and planning at HPU. “Not only were the presentations polished and professional, the research itself was very well done. It was obvious that every student who presented at the symposium invested him or herself fully in the process of discovery, and that’s very gratifying to see.”

One of the students participating in the event was strategic communication graduate student Cameron Tucker. For her project, she worked with The Queen’s Foundation, a nonprofit that promotes leadership education for young women, to create a video for the organization’s recruiting process. She said the creation of her capstone project provided valuable experience working with clients.

“I learned that there are challenges you have to face head on, and sometimes the original vision is not what the final vision will be, but it can still be great,” Cameron said.

The symposium is organized by the Qubein School of Communication each year to showcase the professional projects composed by students who are completing the Master of Arts program.
