HIGH POINT, N.C., April 28, 2015 – High Point University welcomed 90 children from local elementary schools to campus this spring for an Easter egg hunt and celebration. About 60 HPU students who serve as “Bigs” for Big Brothers Big Sisters helped host the event on the university’s intramural field.

The day’s activities included the egg hunt as well as kickball games, field day activities and a raffle for prizes like giant Easter baskets and movies. There were also a few surprises for the children in attendance, says HPU junior Erin Sullivan, president of Big Brothers Big Sisters.

“The part of the event that most children loved was getting a surprise visit from both the HPU ice cream truck and Prowler the Panther,” she said.

HPU students have hosted the egg hunt on campus for at least three years, but organizers said this year’s event was the best to date.

“This year, we really took the event to the next level,” Sullivan added. “We were very happy with how the event turned out, and we look forward to hosting it again next year with new additions to keep it fun and exciting for the children.”
