HIGH POINT, N.C., April 2, 2015 – It took a matter of minutes for local elementary school students to clear High Point University’s Greek Village of 400 Easter eggs. HPU’s Zeta Tau Alpha sorority hosted children in the PNAC (physical activity, nutrition, academics and character development) after-school program from Johnston Street, Fairview, Kirkman Park and The Point Academy schools for an Easter egg hunt on March 31.

“Welcoming children from High Point’s PNAC after-school program for our ZTA Easter egg hunt was an extremely heartwarming experience,” says Allie Zambito, ZTA service chair. “It was a delight to run around with them searching for eggs and playing freeze tag. I hope that we will continue to grow in our partnership with PNAC, as efforts are always needed to make connections in our local community. The sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha were honored to spend an afternoon providing smiles, laughter and candy-filled eggs to such joyful kids.”

PNAC is an after school program that meets weekly at the Ritz Theater on Washington Street. Through HPU’s Bonner Leaders, AmeriCorps VISTAs, Exercise Science Club and Impact Club, they work together to provide a safe after-school program that encourages physical activity, nutrition, academics and character development for the elementary school students.

“The university is committed to our neighbors in the Washington Street community and beyond,” says Dr. Joe Blosser, Robert G. Culp Jr. director of service learning and assistant professor of religion and philosophy. “It was a great pleasure to welcome children in the PNAC program to campus. It’s vital that our neighbors know our campus is open to them and that our students are committed to this city.”
