Campus Chronicle Receives First Place in ASPA Competition

HIGH POINT, N.C., May 19, 2015 – High Point University’s student newspaper, The Campus Chronicle, was recently awarded first place in the 2015 American Scholastic Press Association’s Annual Review and Contest Awards.

The contest compares student publications throughout the country on content, design, photography and overall quality.

Jodi Guglielmi, the 2014-15 editor in chief of the Campus Chronicle, says the newspaper supplements journalism education at HPU and offers students an out-of-the-classroom project they can experience from start to finish. Guglielmi graduated on May 9 and is headed to New York City, where she has accepted an editorial intern position with People Magazine.

“Winning this award is truly a testament to how hard our Campus Chronicle staff has worked to help the paper grow and evolve with every issue,” says Guglielmi. “As an all-student staff, each editor is dedicated to making the newspaper both a reliable and accurate source for students to turn to, and this award is evidence of that. I couldn’t be more proud to have spent four years on the staff, and I look forward to seeing how the paper keeps growing and improving from here.”
