Hairston Joins HPU in Office of Information Technology

HIGH POINT, N.C., May 28, 2015 – The Office of Information Technology at High Point University recently hired Patrick Hairston as manager of information systems security services.

Hairston’s key responsibility is developing policies and training programs for computer systems security at the university. He also develops recommendations for both system controls and monitoring to ensure the integrity and safety of the university’s computer systems.

A 20-year retired Army veteran, Hairston’s expertise comes from previously commanding the headquarters of the 82nd Airborne Division Aviation Brigade during Operation Enduring Freedom 10 in Kandahar, Afghanistan. In his position at HPU, he hopes to use his knowledge to provide a safe and secure digital environment for students and faculty.

“I am looking forward to becoming a part of the High Point University team and family,” says Hairston. “I am excited to have the opportunity to use my expertise and knowledge in a university setting.”

Hairston received his bachelor’s degree in business and computer information systems from St. Leo University and his master’s degree in computer information systems management from Webster University. He is also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and holds the Microsoft Certified Systems Expert (MCSE) in SharePoint 2013.
