With another successful commencement behind us, recent High Point University graduates are preparing to commence prestigious career paths around the world at Fortune 500 companies, international service programs, public school systems, top-tier law, medical and graduate school programs, and many other esteemed organizations thanks to their journey at HPU. Here’s a glimpse of one extraordinary senior from the Class of 2015:
Name: James Tasca
Hometown: Newport, Rhode Island
Major: Tasca graduated with a B.S.B.A. in Business Administration on May 9.
Post-graduation plans: Tasca accepted a position as a Business Development Representative at NetSuite in Denver, Colorado.
How HPU helped you get there: “HPU provided teachers and mentors in the Sales Department such as Professor Randy Moser and Professor Larry Quinn. Professor Quinn was the reason that I joined the PSB Selling Club, which eventually took me to Orlando, Florida for the International Collegiate Sales Competition (ICSC) where I was introduced to and eventually employed by NetSuite. Professor Moser was an integral part on this trip as my mentor.
Career and Internship Services were also always available, whether it was during the school year or the summer, to help me with editing both my resume and LinkedIn page.”
Most impactful mentor at HPU: “Both Professor Quinn and Professor Moser have been the most impactful teachers I have had at HPU. They are always available to give their advice and have gone out of their way to help prepare me for my career. Their dedication to all of their students is evident through the Selling Club and how they have consistently secured jobs for graduating seniors and established relationships with recruiters at top companies across the country. I could not be more thankful to both of them for the time and effort they put forth helping me my senior year.”
Most impactful moment at HPU: “When HPU’s Student Government Association donated $7,000.00 dollars to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, that was the most impactful moment for me at HPU. Their generosity to support this foundation inspired me and really speaks to the amazing people that make up the student body.”
Advice for underclassmen: “Get involved with as many clubs as possible, utilize Career and Internship Services to create a LinkedIn page and perfect your resume, and have a ‘yes’ mentality to any opportunities that are given to you because you never know how it could eventually benefit you.”
