HIGH POINT, N.C., June 24, 2015 – High Point University hired Tyresa Nelson Foster as assistant coordinator of residential services in the Office of Student Life.
Foster will ensure a successful residence life experience for students in the residential community through student engagement within each facility, maintenance and resource needs, and advising the Inter-Residence Council.
Foster previously served as Greensboro’s first program director for the Children’s Defense Fund Freedom Schools Literacy Program as well as director for the Spirit of Excellence AmeriCorps program. She has seven years of experience in education and was Teacher of the Year in 2010 at a performing arts charter school in Washington, D.C.
“My goal is to provide students with a safe and nurturing environment at their home away from home,” says Foster. “By demonstrating the art of leadership through servanthood, I hope to provide students with an example of how to strengthen their communities.”
Foster received her Bachelor of Arts in liberal studies with a concentration in education from North Carolina A&T State University. She also received her Master of Arts in human resource management from Trinity Washington University and participated in the Guilford Consortium Nonprofit Management Institute certificate program.
