HIGH POINT, N.C., Aug. 10, 2015 – High Point University recently hired Dr. Courtney Bradley as assistant professor of clinical sciences and applied laboratory coordinator in the School of Pharmacy.
Bradley will develop and coordinate the Introduction to Pharmacy Practice course and ensure coordination among all pharmacy lab courses. She will work closely with students through hands-on learning, small group lab activities and patient simulation.
“Various methods of applied learning allow students to develop the practice-based skills that will be essential for them to become innovative and confident pharmacy practitioners,” Bradley says.
Throughout her pharmacy practice training, Bradley has focused on developing patient-centered initiatives for diabetes, hypertension, anticoagulation and asthma. She’s also developed innovative teaching styles specifically within pharmaceutical skills labs.
Bradley completed her bachelor’s degree and pharmacy doctorate at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed a postgraduate community pharmacy practice residency with Kroger Pharmacy and the University of Cincinnati James L. Winkle College of Pharmacy. There she co-coordinated a Therapeutic Lifestyle Changes elective and facilitated various small group case studies and skills lab modules. She also completed an academic postdoctoral fellowship in Pharmaceutical Care Labs at UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, where she coordinated two lab courses.
Bradley is looking forward to using her prior experience to guide and motivate students at HPU.
“I am very excited to be joining the faculty at HPU to build an exceptional pharmacy program,” says Bradley. “We have the unique opportunity to develop innovative teaching and learning practices that will allow students to develop the skills necessary to be knowledgeable, motivated and compassionate pharmacists.”
