HIGH POINT, N.C., Aug. 5, 2015 – High Point University recently hired Marcus Washington as a resident director in the Office of Student Life.
Washington works in the University Village and Aldridge Village 2 residential communities at HPU to create a welcoming and healthy environment for all residents. He also supervises a staff of resident assistants for the communities.
Washington previously served as the coordinator of recruitment and pre-college programs at Messiah College. He has also worked in mental health at Pennsylvania Counseling Services, as a youth director at a YMCA, and as an adolescent program specialist at Milton Hershey School.
Washington says these prior experiences led to this new career, and he is thrilled to begin work at HPU.
“It has been one of my professional goals to work at High Point University,” says Washington. “HPU has become a leader in higher education as a university that truly values its students. I want to use my gifts as a mentor, leader, teacher and coach to make a difference in the lives of students and my colleagues.”
Washington received both his bachelor’s degree in human development and family science and his master’s degree in higher education from Messiah College.
