HIGH POINT, N.C., Aug. 3, 2015 – High Point University rising senior Danielle DeConinck is gaining invaluable experience as a finance intern at Carestream Health.
DeConinck, a native of Rochester, New York, is working with the Carestream Finance Summer Internship program in her hometown. The internship allows her to rotate through various job functions over a 12-week period. This has involved her in projects within the tax, treasury, audit, controller and corporate finance areas of the organization. She even had the opportunity to travel to Romania and participate in an internal audit.
DeConinck says her internship has improved her technical skills, specifically the use of programs such as Microsoft Excel and accounting software, and has also helped expand her professional network.
“Networking events within both the company and the community offered me the opportunity to connect with individuals across every level of the organization,” says DeConinck. “This internship has given me real-world experience in a corporate setting, an experience that I will carry with me for the rest of my career.”
DeConinck attributes her foundation for success to her coursework at HPU.
“During my time at HPU, I have taken multiple accounting and finance courses,” DeConinck says. “These classes really helped me understand accounting principles and financial processes, both of which were crucial to my role at Carestream.”
DeConinck will graduate from HPU in May 2016 with a bachelor’s degree in business and a minor in human relations. She plans to attend graduate school before beginning a corporate career.
