HIGH POINT, N.C., Oct. 19, 2015 – Children from the High Point University Community Writing Center buried their heads in books at the Used Pages book store in High Point on Oct 13. High Point University students volunteer at the Community Writing Center throughout the year to work with students from Kirkman Park Elementary School on their reading and writing skills.

Dr. Patrick Harman, owner of the Hayden Harman Foundation, donated money to allow each child to take home three of their very own books that day.

“I am so excited about getting to take home books today,” said Kirkman Park Elementary School student Lizeth Cruz-Ruiz. “I love reading new stories and taking an adventure into every new book that I pick up.”

“It is great to see children at such a young age excited to read,” said Michael Fox, owner of the Used Pages book store. “Books are knowledge, and the work that High Point University is doing with the Community Writing Center is great for these children and will take them far in life.”
