HPU Security Named to Top 25 List

HIGH POINT, N.C., Oct. 1, 2015 – High Point University’s campus security efforts have received national recognition once again.

Safe Campus, The National Campus Safety Summit, has ranked HPU’s security team among the top 25 university security departments in the nation. HPU is No. 21 on the list.

The new list highlights university departments that have enacted initiatives to improve campus safety. The criteria included the planning and development of programs that achieve quantifiable results, outstanding department and institution-wide procedures and approaches to safety, and programs that are adaptable to being implemented in other departments or universities.

HPU has received several recognitions in recent years for the safe environment created on campus by its dedicated team of security professionals. Earlier this year, HPU was ranked 12th in the nation in the education category out of 500 security programs reviewed by Security Magazine.

“These recognitions are made possible by the men and women in our department who provide faithful service to the university each day and by the support and leadership of our administration,” says Jeff Karpovich, CPP, CHPA, chief of security and transportation at HPU. “Being named one of the top departments in the country is a validation of our commitment to both safety and service.”

Safe Campus, The National Campus Safety Summit, is the premier conference on university and college safety. It was founded in 2012 to improve student safety by bringing together campus safety professionals, administrators and law enforcement agencies from across the country.
