Local Children Receive a Special Treat on HPU Campus for Halloween

HIGH POINT, N.C., Oct. 30, 2015 – Children from the Boys and Girls Club of Greater High Point and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Central Piedmont got into the Halloween spirit with an afternoon of trick-or-treating on High Point University’s campus on Oct. 27 and Oct. 29.

Dressed as superheroes, princesses, witches and furry animals, the children knocked on the doors of HPU students dressed in their very own costumes, ready to offer candy to the children.

“I had so much fun dressing up as a witch and trick-or-treating with all of my friends,” said Tahliah Legette, Big Brothers Big Sisters member.

“The children were so appreciative and had a great time with the HPU students trick-or-treating,” said Daryl Moore, unit director for the Boys and Girls Club. “During my time at the Boys and Girls Club, I have truly enjoyed seeing the great connection between the Boys and Girls Club and the university. I am excited to see our partnership continue grow.

The events were organized by HPU residential life staff and students who serve as resident assistants.

“A lot of our residential life staff is heavily involved with the Boys and Girls Club and Big Brothers Big Sisters and love making this happen for the children,” says HPU resident director Lindsay Pritchard. “The HPU students are always so excited to dress up and have the children come and knock on their doors.”

“We enjoy having these children come out and trick or treat with us every year,” said Gail Tuttle, senior vice president of student life. “This is another great example of how High Point University students continue to stay involved with their community on and off campus throughout the year.”
