HIGH POINT, N.C., Oct. 20, 2015 – The High Point University Wind Ensemble will treat community members to a night of delightful music and talent at the annual Fall Band Concert. The event, to be held at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 6 in the Pauline Theatre of Hayworth Fine Arts Center, is open to the public; tickets are not required.
The concert, titled “Puszta!” will feature a variety of musical compositions for large and small ensembles, designed to evoke a variety of emotions for both the performers and audience. Selections include some of the staples of the concert band repertoire, including Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “English Folk Song Suite,” as well as new pieces from contemporary composers, like “Sheltering Sky” by John Mackey.
“We are very excited about this concert,” says Dr. Danny Frye, director of instrumental studies and university bands. “With 62 musicians, we have the largest band we’ve ever had at HPU, and their energy and enthusiasm has provided a tremendous start to our year. We hope the High Point community will join us for this exciting concert.”
