HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 3, 2015 – Undergraduate students from across North Carolina will gather at High Point University on Nov. 14 to present research at the State of North Carolina Undergraduate Research & Creativity Symposium.

HPU is hosting the 11th annual event, which showcases student research and creative works by students from 40 colleges, universities and high schools. With more than 800 students and faculty expected to attend, including 47 students from HPU, the symposium is one of many events bringing thousands of visitors to campus this fall and making a significant economic impact on the city of High Point. This weekend event is expected to have an impact of more than $78,000, according to the High Point Convention and Visitors’ Bureau.
“High Point University is tremendously dedicated to engaging undergraduate students in research, and this is reflected in the evidence of so many of our students being invited to participate in conferences and publish their work,” says Dr. Joanne Altman, director of the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Works. “Beyond the depth of knowledge they build through their research experiences, students also become more marketable when pursuing graduate programs and jobs. It gives them a chance to develop soft skills employers covet and show passion and enthusiasm for their work.”
SNCURCS provides undergraduate scholars in all fields a forum to share the results of their work through posters, presentations, performances and works of art. It is held at a host university in North Carolina each year and features work from all disciplines, including science, social sciences, the humanities and the visual and performing arts.
