HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 25, 2015 – Dr. James Abordo Ong joined the faculty of High Point University as an instructor of philosophy.
A specialist in social and political philosophy and moral psychology, Ong teaches undergraduate business ethics and social ethics courses.
Ong recently moved to High Point from Durham, where he completed a doctorate in philosophy at Duke University. Originally from Manila, Philippines, he completed a bachelor’s degree in business administration and accountancy at the University of the Philippines and a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of St. Andrews.
His professional experience includes working as a corporate strategy manager in a real-estate marketing firm and as head of financial management at Allianz Life Insurance in Seoul, South Korea.
“My new position has been a high-definition, multi-dimensional experience that’s challenged me in fun and interesting ways,” says Ong. “Through my own approach to teaching, I’m hoping to reassure HPU students of the value of just being themselves, but at the same time encourage them to take the occasional leap to those momentous life changes that will make them extraordinary.”
