Boateng Joins School of Pharmacy

HIGH POINT, N.C., Dec. 14, 2015 – High Point University welcomes Dr. Comfort Boateng as an assistant professor in the Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy, where she teaches courses in medicinal chemistry and medical biochemistry of natural products.

Boateng’s expertise is in drug design and synthesis related to treating Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, sleep disorders and drug addiction. Her research in this area has been published in several peer-reviewed journals.

“I want my students to understand the fundamentals, and I want to stir their passion in how drug discovery and design impacts pharmaceutical care,” Boateng says. “I am honored to be a part of the new pharmacy school and excited to transform the dreams of the young people who join our program.”

Boateng studied pharmaceutical science specializing in medicinal chemistry at Florida A&M University. She is the recipient of several awards and fellowships from the National Institutes of Health. Her honors include serving as a research fellow at the National Institute on Drug Abuse, participating in a research internship at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and earning the Fellows Award for Research Excellence 2016.
