HPU Adds Environmental Science Professor

HIGH POINT, N.C., Dec. 7, 2015 – High Point University welcomes Dr. Christian George as a visiting assistant professor of biology and environmental science.

George is a paleontologist with an expertise in the effect of climate change on mammalian communities. He is teaching courses in environmental science, earth science and zoology.

“I hope to get students excited and interested in science,” says George. “Science is a fundamental part of a liberal arts education, and even if you don’t major in science, it’s important to appreciate the fragility and value of the Earth.”

George relocated to High Point from Silver Spring, Maryland, where he worked as an assistant professor in the Atmosphere, Oceanic and Earth Sciences Department at George Mason University.

George earned a bachelor’s degree in geosciences at Franklin & Marshall College, a master’s degree in geological sciences at the University of Florida and a doctorate at the University of Texas at Austin.
