HIGH POINT, N.C., Dec. 2, 2015 – High Point University welcomes Dr. Allison McAlister as a visiting assistant professor in the Department of Mathematics.
McAlister teaches courses in calculus and quantitative methods. With a research interest in finite-dimensional generalizations of Lie algebras, she is excited to share her love of mathematics with students at HPU.
“As a member of the mathematics faculty at HPU, I’m introducing the logic and foundations of math so they can build their skills in problem-solving and deductive and analytical reasoning,” McAlister says. “These skills are in high demand for the most sought-after careers.”
McAlister recently relocated to High Point from Raleigh, where she taught math courses at North Carolina State University and Durham Technical Community College. She has a bachelor’s degree and doctorate in mathematics from N.C. State.
