Student Government Association Donates $10,000 to United Way

HIGH POINT, N.C., Dec. 17, 2015 – High Point University’s Student Government Association has donated $10,000 to the United Way of Greater High Point.

“United Way greatly appreciates the gift from High Point University’s SGA,” said Bobby Smith, president of United Way of Greater High Point. “This gift is just the latest in a long, long list of ways in which HPU has supported our United Way and our entire community. Everywhere I go in High Point I see HPU students volunteering, donating and leading all year long.”

HPU faculty and staff contribute to the United Way annually and donated $225,000 for the 2014 campaign. In addition to the annual campaign, the HPU family donates 100,000 hours of service each year to the community.

“The High Point University Student Government Association is proud to present a donation of $10,000 to the United Way of Greater High Point,” said Joshua Gilstrap, president of SGA. “It reflects not only a financial contribution from HPU, but also, and I think more importantly, a philanthropic commitment by our students to give back to the community. We are blessed to be able to make a difference in our community during the Christmas season and throughout the year. I know that this will continue for many years to come.”
