HIGH POINT, N.C., Feb. 19, 2016 – Dr. Allison Blosser, adjunct professor in the School of Education at High Point University, recently co-edited a book titled “Teaching Comparative Education: Trends and Issues Informing Practice.”
The book is the newest volume in the Oxford Studies in Comparative Education series. With contributions from prominent scholars of comparative education, the book explores the teaching of comparative education in teacher education programs worldwide. The authors critically consider how the economic, political, ideological and sociocultural trends that are shaping education globally bear on the teaching and practice of comparative education.
“With the increasing interconnectedness of societies and the growing influence of international tests on educational policy decisions worldwide, it is becoming imperative for educators to learn how to evaluate educational practices both at home and abroad,” said Blosser. “This book is one of the first in the field to critically examine how and why comparative education is taught to educators around the world.”
Blosser will be joining the HPU School of Education as an assistant professor of education in fall 2016. For more information on the book, visit: http://www.symposium-books.co.uk/books/bookdetails.asp?bid=95
