HIGH POINT, N.C., March 9, 2016 – High Point University recently hosted a professional development seminar for student veterans from HPU, NC A&T, University of North Carolina at Greensboro and Elon University on March 3.
The seminar, titled “Where College Experience and Military Meet Tomorrow,” was led by Hire Heroes USA, a company that effectively trains veterans in the skills of self-marketing, then supports their career search until they find good jobs with great companies.
“Organizing this seminar has opened up the opportunity to bring student veterans from around the area together and equip them with the strategies and resources needed for their post-graduation success,” said Kevin Bush, HPU student and ROTC member who helped organize the event.
Marshall McCloud, veteran transition specialist at Hire Heroes USA, spoke to the student veterans about using their military experience to be more competitive in the civilian or federal sectors.

“I wanted to get these students excited and motivated about finding a job after graduation,” said McCloud. “I hope that these students are able to walk away from the seminar developing a plan and getting a better idea of what they want to do over the next ten years using their military skill set.”
