HIGH POINT, N.C., March 21, 2015 – Super heroes soared around Vert Stadium at High Point University on March 20, and together, raised $25,000 for Family Service of the Piedmont. This is the third year in a row that HPU’s Kappa Delta sorority and the Guild of Family Service of High Point held this Super Hero Dash for HPU students, faculty, staff and members of the community. With bright colored capes, tights and shirts representing their favorite hero, over 200 people raced in this event.

The Super Hero Dash is a race that aims to increase awareness of Family Service of the Piedmont, a nonprofit organization that empowers individuals and families in crisis to restore hope, achieve stability and thrive through quality support services, advocacy and education. Funds raised at the event will support agency programs that serve child victims of abuse, including domestic violence shelters, children’s advocacy centers, individual and family counseling and in-home therapy.
The race offered a 5k run for adults and a 1k run for children 10 and under. The event also included a bounce house, games, face painting and food trucks.
“Kappa Delta was fortunate to work with the local Family Services of the Piedmont to put on an incredible event that helps spread awareness of child abuse and donates to increase resources for families affected by it,” said Haley McKeown, Kappa Delta president. “We are grateful to everyone who came out to support our philanthropy. Without all of them, none of this would have been possible.”

“This event was such a great success with over 200 participants,” said Heather Schwartz, member at Guild of Family Service and co-chair for the event. “We enjoyed working together with the Kappa Deltas from High Point University to plan this event, and it was wonderful to see the interaction between HPU students and members of the High Point community.”
