HIGH POINT, N.C., March 8, 2016 – High Point University’s Kappa Delta sorority and the Guild of Family Service of High Point will co-host the third Super Hero Dash, which will be held at the HPU Vert Stadium at 2:30 p.m. on March 20.
The Super Hero Dash is a race that aims to increase awareness of Family Service of the Piedmont, a nonprofit organization that empowers individuals and families in crisis to restore hope, achieve stability and thrive through quality support services, advocacy and education. The race will be a 5k run for adults and a 1k run for children 10 and under.

Funds raised at the event will support agency programs that serve child victims of abuse, including domestic violence shelters, children’s advocacy centers, individual and family counseling and in-home therapy. Last year, the event raised more than $22,000 for Family Service.
Participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite superhero. Registration is $25 for adults before March 16 and $15 for kids 10 and under. The first 200 to register will receive a Super Hero Dash T-shirt, and children under 10 will receive a super hero cape. The first 100 to register will receive a $5 gift card to Dick’s Sporting Goods. There will also be a bounce house, games, face painting and food trucks. Those interested in supporting the event, but unable to attend, are invited to sign up as a “virtual runner” and will be mailed a T-shirt/kids cape if they are one of the first 200 to register. You can register online here.
“We had a very successful event last year raising over $22,000,” says Haley McKeown, Kappa Delta president. “This year, we are hoping to go above and beyond that by partnering with the university as well as the community and increasing that number. It is great to be part of such an incredible organization that raises money for philanthropy while having fun doing it. We are really grateful for the support of the HPU community in helping us with our efforts to prevent child abuse.”
“Kappa Delta and the High Point Guild of Family Service are joining forces again to raise awareness and help fight child abuse in our partnership to put on the Super Hero Dash,” says Heather Schwartz, member at Guild of Family Service and co-chair for the event. “We can’t wait for everyone to come out and spend a great afternoon at a family event put on for the community.”
