Sorority Raises $9,000 for Children’s Miracle Network

HIGH POINT, N.C., April 12, 2016 – High Point University’s Phi Mu sorority is making a difference in the lives of children across the United States by raising more than $9,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals through events held this academic year.

The Bonnamu Music Festival, an adaption of the annual Music and Arts Festival Bonnaroo was the most recent event held on April 9. It raised funds for children’s hospitals, medical research and community awareness of children’s health issues.

“Philanthropy is something that our sorority loves to do each and every year,” said Phi Mu sorority member Nia Page. “There is no greater feeling than knowing that every effort made and every dollar raised is directly benefitting the lives of children.”

The event had live music and performances from HPU students including Virginia Elam and Rowan Grieb. Bonnamu also featured a classic rock and modern pop local band called “The Incinerators.”

“Bonnamu was such a great event with awesome live music and fun activities for everyone to enjoy,” said Phi Mu sorority member Riley Macklin. “It was amazing to see how many people wanted to support the kids of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.”

The sorority held various events throughout the year to raise money for the Children’s Miracle Network including a Bingo Night, Bake Sale and “Acapalooza” a capella concert, to name a few.
