Security Chief Receives International Administrative Excellence Award

HIGH POINT, N.C., May 18, 2016 – Jeff Karpovich, CPP, CHPA, security chief and transportation director at High Point University, was selected by the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators to receive the 2016 Award for Administrative Excellence. Karpovich will accept the award on June 25 at the organization’s annual conference in Phoenix.

IACLEA provides resources, advocacy and professional development for public safety departments from more than 1,000 colleges and universities internationally. The organization gives the Award for Administrative Excellence each year to an employee from one of its member institutions who has demonstrated excellence in the areas of policy, planning, innovative ideas and administrative techniques in campus security and safety.

“I am humbled and honored that my peers have selected me,” says Karpovich, who is receiving the award for the second time in his eight years at HPU. He is the award’s first two-time recipient. “These accomplishments would not have been possible but for the loyal staff and administration who have supported me.”

Dr. Bobby Little, chair of HPU’s criminal justice program, nominated Karpovich for the award.

“Jeff Karpovich has enriched High Point University by totally transforming our security and transportation services into world-class operations with state-of-the-art technologies, creative and highly effective new programs, and a plethora of personnel enhancements,” says Little. “Jeff oversees all these achievements with the initiation of smart administrative management systems, which continue to place a premium on the on-going improvement of campus safety and security.”

Moving forward, Karpovich says HPU continues to improve its safety program by upgrading security technology as new facilities are added to the campus. These enhancements, along with the security department’s commitment to customer service, help HPU deliver on its promise of providing a safe, inspiring learning environment for students.

“High Point University is a special place, and what has been done here is historic,” Karpovich says. “I’m pleased to play a small role in our success.”
