HIGH POINT, N.C., Nov. 9, 2016 – High Point University students took a moment to document their many blessings as part of “The Gratitude Project,” an annual campaign that allows students to share what they are thankful for during this Thanksgiving season.
For its sixth year, “The Gratitude Project,” organized and hosted on campus by the Student Alumni Council, gave students an opportunity to express their appreciation.
Students said they were thankful for “our troops,” “the extraordinary education I get at HPU,” “the love and support of family and friends,” and “the faculty and staff here.”
Many students partnered to share their thankfulness for one another. “Thankful for HPU science, because now we are covalently bonded,” read two student signs.
Sophomore Emily Maura, thankful for the U.S. military, thought the project provided a great opportunity for students.
“I think it’s always nice to stop for just one second during the day and recognize the things you’re thankful for,” she said. “This project gave us that chance.”
“This is a tradition that I’m lucky to be a part of,” said HPU freshman Zach Spendley. “At this time of the year it’s nice to stop and see people come together and show what they are most thankful for.”
Junior Connor Harris, a member of the Student Alumni Association, said that the tradition is a student favorite on campus.
“This is a great day to reflect on the opportunities that HPU donors, faculty and staff have afforded us,” he said.
