HPU Announces New Hires

HIGH POINT, N.C., Dec. 13, 2016 – High Point University welcomed nine new faculty and staff members during the month of November. They are as follows:

 


Dr. Jean Douglas, High Point University School of Pharmacy associate professor
Dr. Jean Douglas joins the School of Pharmacy as associate professor of clinical sciences.

This is a newly created faculty position. Douglas will teach courses and serve as director of the Standardized Client Program, which provides students the opportunity to practice working with patients. Previously, she was a clinical pharmacy coordinator and preceptor of students and residents at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro, where she helped set up a nationally recognized clinical pharmacy program. Additionally, she was a medical writer for a clinical research organization and a pharmacist serving assisted living patients. Douglas holds a Bachelor of Science in pharmacy from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Tennessee Health Sciences at Memphis. She is a fellow of the American Society of Health System Pharmacists and a past president of the North Carolina Society of Health System Pharmacists. She completed certifications in diabetes, cardiovascular disease, asthma and outcomes. She was named North Carolina Pharmacist of the Year and sits on the Board of Health for Guilford County.

 


Debbie Bowman, High Point University Physical Therapy Department administrative assistant

 

Debbie Bowman joins the Department of Physical Therapy as an administrative assistant. In this newly created position, Bowman will provide administrative support to the physical therapy faculty. Prior to joining HPU, she held positions as an administrative assistant, curriculum specialist, hospital in-home aide scheduler/Personal Emergency Response System coordinator and adjunct instructor. She has an applied science degree in office systems technology as well as certificates in health care management technology and medical office administration.

 

 


Jackie Barnes, High Point University Physician Assistant Studies clinical education specialist
Jackie Barnes joins the Department o

f Physician Assistant Studies as a clinical education specialist. She coordinates clinical rotations for students and serves as a liaison with preceptors. She also collects data and feedback on the clinical experiences and student performance to ensure students are participating in high-quality rotations. Barnes comes to HPU with 13 years of experience in areas of management, leadership, information technology, training and human resources for various health care entities. She is a Certified Human Behavior Consultant and is completing a degree in human relations.

 


Allison Agresti, High Point University Office of Student Life clinical counselor

 

Allison Agresti joins the Office of Student Life as a clinical counselor. She provides clinical counseling, assessments and education groups for HPU students. She previously worked as a licensed counselor at an outpatient substance abuse treatment center and as a college counseling intern. Agresti holds a master’s degree in counseling and educational development. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate and a Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist Associate.

 


Frank Mullins, High Point University Office of Student Life clinical counselor

 

Frank Mullins joins the Office of Student Life as a clinical counselor. This is a newly created position. A licensed professional counselor, Mullins will be providing mental health services for students. He hopes to assist students in times of need and support their academic and personal success. He has been in the field of mental health for 14 years and has worked in direct residential care, in-home therapy and outpatient services. He holds a master’s degree in professional counseling and a certification in cognitive behavioral therapy.

 

 


Joanne Jones, High Point University Office of Financial Affairs manager of financial accounting

 

Joanne Jones joins the Office of Financial Affairs as manager of financial accounting. This is a new position. She oversees accounting functions for the university’s accurate and timely production of financial statements and develops internal controls to monitor the expending and reporting of funds. A Certified Public Accountant, Jones has prior experience in university accounting and as a seasonal tax accountant. She holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting.

 
Jacob Nienow, High Point University Office of Information Technology A/V systems analyst

 

Jacob Nienow joins the Office of Information Technology as an A/V systems analyst. His responsibilities include supporting a variety of events on campus as well as troubleshooting and maintaining classroom technology. He has previous experience in setting up and running A/V for major events on college campuses, and has assisted with events at the Greensboro Coliseum. He holds an associate degree in concert audio and lighting and is Green Belt Certified in Lean Six Sigma.

 

 


Justin Miller, High Point University Office of Information Technology systems specialist
Justin Miller joins the Office of Information Technology as a systems specialist.

He ensures that university enterprise applications function optimally and works with users, analysts and vendors to maintain current systems and integrate new ones. His work provides for a seamless user experience by supporting the tools students and faculty use on a daily basis. Prior to joining HPU, he was a systems administrator and programmer for a multistate manufacturing company in the construction industry.

 

 


Trey Walker, High Point University facility operations manager
Trey Walker joins HPU as facility operations manager.

He assists in the oversight of facility operations, long-term facility planning, energy conservation and sustainability projects. Much of his work involves facility renovations and enhancements that improve the overall HPU experience for students, staff and faculty. Before joining HPU, Walker worked for Colonial Properties Trust in service management, training, acquisition and new construction capacities. He also worked as a maintenance manager for The Budd Group on the HPU campus from 2008 to 2014. He spent the last two years as project manager with LDR Technologies.
